The Board Connection is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to increase the number of women serving on corporate boards and in the executive suite through programs designed to connect, influence and develop women capable of serving as board members.
The Board Connection’s membership consists of professional women who have the desire and ability to be serious candidates for corporate board positions. Members have access to our networking sessions, information on board searches, and assistance with board readiness development programs.
Our leadership team consists of a board of directors from several prominent corporate and professional organizations in the Dallas area. Our team brings both experience and commitment to TBC and to the advancement of women serving on corporate boards.
The impact of women on corporate boards
July 29, 2010: A 2008 study by Renée Adams and Daniel Ferreira found that women had better director attendance records than men and that women’s presence improved the attendance records of their male director colleagues. They also found that women are more likely than men, all else being equal, to serve on monitoring committees (audit, nominating, and corporate governance); that CEO turnover is more sensitive to stock-price performance at companies whose boards include women; and that director pay is more equity based (and thus designed to be more closely linked to shareholders’ interests) at companies with gender-diverse boards.
Their final results present a fairly convincing argument that the effects identified are due to gender: that women’s presence makes boards more conscientious, alignstheir compensation better with shareholder interests, and leads them to hold CEOs more accountable for risks to shareholder value.
TBC (The Board Connection) is a nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to increase the number of women serving on corporate boards and in the executive suite. The organization identifies and connects accomplished women in the state of Texas, expanding their influence within their respective business communities. TBC recruits executive women within 3 – 5 years of board readiness and provides programming and development opportunities to facilitate their paths to the boardroom.
